The "Upload" feature allows you to load data from an external file into Ternair. The uploaded data can then be used as input for other selection or output blocks.
Drag an upload block onto the worksheet.
You can only use the upload block if the selection has been saved.
Double-click the upload block to open the settings.
On the left side, a preview of the internal table is displayed when you upload a file. On the right side, you'll find the settings.
This section focuses on the following options; each option consists of a tab in the settings (on the right) of an upload block.
The preview (on the left side of the screen) is always visible.

There are two ways to upload your file:
Uploading from Your Computer
Automated Uploading from an FTP Location
Click the green upload button to select the file you want to upload. You can only upload files with the extensions .xls, .xlsx, .xlsb, .txt, or .csv.
Key
After uploading the file, specify which column in the file contains the key and what type of key it is (for example, account ID or email address). By default, the key "Unique key (not shareable)" is suggested. Select a different key if you want to combine the file with other sources that contain the same key, such as email.
The file contains a header line
If the option The file contains a header line If selected in an upload block, the first line is not counted as a record.
Column Types
If the "Use Column Types from File" option is selected, the column (data) types from the uploaded Excel file are used in Ternair as field types for these fields.
The maximum number of characters in a column is 999.
The following data types are supported:

Number
Currency
Other/text
Depending on the type of data, the corresponding operators are available for this field. See "Selection" for more details about selection operators.
Bulk Upload
A "global upload" can be used as a source in other selections. Existing global upload blocks are always read-only files.
Settings
On the "Settings" tab, the user can set a retention period.
The retention period determines how long the upload remains available within Ternair.

Description
Block Template
Each upload block can be saved as a template. Once an upload block has been saved as a template, it can be used as a template for other upload blocks. A block template can be reused by clicking “Open block template” in the lower-left corner of the upload block and selecting the template from the list.
Description
You can enter a description for an upload block. The description field is intended for providing a logical description of the block. This makes the contents of the output block easily recognizable in the selection flowchart.
Cancel
Use the "Cancel" button to undo your changes.
Save
The "Save" button lets you save your changes without (re)calculating the block.
Calculate
As a final step, the upload must be calculated. Select the upload block, right-click, and select “Calculate.” Executing the upload will load the file into Ternair.
In the selection flowchart, the upload block shows the number of rows (records) with a value in the key column.
A successfully uploaded file can be saved as a source in other selection functions, such as Select, Split, Sample, Switch, or Dedupe. Connect the upload block to another (selection) block by drawing an arrow from the upload block to the selection block.
The upload can be used later as input for other blocks (in the selection).
