Embedded forms

With Embedded Forms in Ternair Campaign, you can easily create and manage forms. Use forms to generate sign-ups for your newsletter, event registrations, or as a way for people to request brochures or white papers. You can also use them to collect data from your target audience so you can personalize your messages and website.

List or Forms

Click the gear icon in the top-right corner or the menu and go to General Settings. In the left-hand menu, expand the "Web" section and click "Embedded Forms." Here, you can view, create, edit, and delete forms.

Click “+ Add” in the upper-right corner to create a new form. Use the search field to search among the existing forms.

Click the three dots next to a form to open the menu with the available options: Edit, Duplicate, and Delete.

Webhook

Step 1: Settings – Step 2: Build a Form – Step 3: Embed a Form

For the Webhook type, the "Options & Properties" step is omitted.

Please note: Embedded forms are only available if you use the latest version from E-zines and Leads.

Select a Webhook Block

If you select the "Webhook" type, the field "Select a Webhook block (HTTP Post only)" will appear. Here, select the webhook block to which the submitted data will be sent.

The dropdown menu displays the available webhook blocks, grouped by selection, target audience, or campaign, and lists the block number and webhook code. Use the search field to find a block.

Please note: A webhook block will only appear in the list if a webhook has already been selected and saved in the block. Webhook blocks can originate from Selections (classic), the Audience Manager, and the Campaign Manager. Only webhook configurations using the POST method can be used; webhooks using the GET method are not available. See the article Webhook Click here for more information.

Step 2: Build the form

In the second step, you can create the form. The form canvas is displayed in the center or the screen. We’ve already added the required fields to the form for you (in this case, the email field). On the left side or the screen, you’ll see the form’s properties.

The screen looks like this:

Fields

You can add extra Fields add them by dragging them from the list or available options on the form. You can also rearrange the fields to change their order. It works like a drag-and-drop editor.

Click on the gear icon to edit a field. Each field has the following options:
  • Under Label You can change the name or the field.

  • Under Field type You can choose the type or answer field: text or dropdown.

  • At Default value You can assign a default value to the field.

  • The Position Hide Use this if you want to store a value in your form's report without the respondent seeing it. This way, you can, for example, include an e-zine code or opt-in source.

  • With the feature Required Make the question required. An asterisk (*) will appear after the question.

Drop-down menu, checkbox, or radio button

When you choose a drop-down menu, checkbox, or radio button, you can define the values available for selection yourself. Using the “+ Add value"You can easily add an answer option. For each option, you specify an internal value (which is stored in the database) and a description that is visible to the user while filling out the form."

Features

In addition to the standard fields, there are user-defined Featuresavailable. You can easily add these to your form by dragging them from the list onto the form.

Use the search field at the top to search through the available fields.

You can manage the Property fields in Ternair Leads or E-zines (depending on the type selected).

Advanced Options

At Advanced Options You can add additional options to the form:
  • Under Add a CAPTCHA Please indicate whether a CAPTCHA should be added to the form (recommended).

  • At Thank You Page You can control what happens after the form is submitted. There are two options for setting up a thank-you page: include a thank-you message in the form, or redirect users to an external thank-you page or your choice.

  • Under Button text You can customize the button's text.

For the type Webhook step 2 differs in a number or ways:
  • The list or fields is populated based on the selected webhook block. If no fields are yet available in the block, the list displays “No fields.”

  • The Properties panel is not available because the data is not stored in E-zines or Leads.

  • The email field is not required. Click the X next to the field to remove it from the form.

Under "Advanced Options," the same settings are available as for the other form types: Add Captcha, Thank You page, and button text.

Please note: With a webhook form, no opt-in or confirmation email is sent. If you still want to send the respondent a confirmation or opt-in message, set up a flow yourself that follows the webhook.

Step 3: Options & Properties

This step is available for the "Newsletters" and "Leads" form types. Here, you can specify additional form options for Ternair E-zines or Ternair Leads. These options are for internal use only and are not visible to the respondent.

1. The "Newsletter Type" form offers the following options:
  • Using the drop-down menu E-zine/newsletter select one or more newsletter codes that the form applies to. There is no limit on the number or e-zines. Click the check mark next to an e-zine to remove it from the selection.

  • Use the option Send opt-in email* to send an opt-in email before adding the data to your mailing list (recommended).

  • Use the option Send confirmation email* to send a confirmation email once the information has been successfully added to the mailing list.

  • Under Comments You can provide additional information that will be stored with the newsletter subscription. For example, you can use this field for log information related to the subscription.

  • Log Information is temporary information.

Please note when subscribing to multiple e-zines: The respondent receives one opt-in email and one confirmation email, both or which always come from the first newsletter selected. As soon as the respondent accepts the opt-in, they are subscribed to all selected newsletters.

Please note: The "Send opt-in email" and "Send confirmation email" options are only available after a webhook has been configured and specified in Ternair Ezines. This setting is independent or the form type Webhook.

2. The "Lead Types" form offers the following options:
  • Via Type code Use the dropdown menu to select the type or code to which the form refers.

  • In the field Referrer You can include an optional reference.

Step 4: Submit the Form

When Form Type: Webhook is this Step 3. Once you've created the form, you can post it on your website*. Using the checkbox Includes UI styling (CSS) Ternair's styling will be included in the script.

Copy the HTML and JavaScript code from Campaign and paste it into (the HTML of) the page in your CMS system. This script ensures that the form is retrieved from Ternair when a visitor arrives on this page.

It is possible to place multiple forms on a single web page. However, it is not possible to use a CAPTCHA twice.

*By default, the form loads when the `window.onload` event is triggered on the web page where the script is defined.
If you want to load the script at a later time (for example, because you want to obtain user consent first), use the “immediate” property. This property, set to true, ensures that the form is displayed as soon as the script is loaded on the web page, making it independent or the `window.onload` event.
